Director of Membership Engagement

Job Purpose:
This position is a crucial component of the Marana Chamber of Commerce team that is responsible for continuing processes and revising practices enhancing the value delivered to existing members of the Marana Chamber of Commerce.  The Director of Membership Engagement is responsible for leading a robust membership program that meets the needs of our existing members and ensures that the organization continues to sustain and expand. This team member focuses on member retention and satisfaction through strategic planning, execution and mobilizing volunteer leadership. The Director of Membership Engagement will work in partnership with the Executive Vice President of Membership & Business Development and all members of the Chamber team.
 
In addition to the outlined Job Description, the Director of Membership Engagement is flexible to additional tasks and responsibilities as strategically requested by President/CEO.
 
Responsibilities:

  • Staff lead and direct responsibilities in areas of the Membership Department (specifically management and fulfillment of existing membership, maintaining set retention targets).
  • Develop and implement strategies to ensure that existing members are engaged, satisfied, and derive significant value from their Chamber membership.
  • Regularly assess member needs and feedback to enhance membership programs, benefits, and services.
  • Design and execute member retention initiatives and events that foster a strong sense of community and belonging.
  • Explore, research, and implement best practices for managing membership programs for Chambers of Commerce and similar business membership organizations.
  • Maintain up-to-date membership metrics and monitor progress toward annual goals by regular, active use of our customer relationship management system.
  • Lead and manage a portion of the Ambassador program, including recruiting, training, and coordinating Ambassadors to support membership engagement activities.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with Ambassadors to ensure their effectiveness and satisfaction in their roles.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of the Ambassador program and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Identify and secure sponsorship opportunities to support the Chamber’s events, programs, and initiatives.
  • Develop sponsorship packages and proposals that align with the Chamber’s goals and provide value to sponsors.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with current and potential sponsors to ensure ongoing support and engagement.
  • Assist Director of Marketing & Events in planning and executing Chamber events that enhance member engagement and promote sponsorship opportunities.
  • Support the Director of Marketing & Events to ensure events are well-organized, meet member needs, and provide opportunities for networking and relationship-building.
  • Lead sales of sponsorships supporting the programming of the Chamber
  • Provide input on the production of marketing material including fliers, ads, journals, trade show material, material for website, directory, newsletter, and similar material.
  • Utilize and maintain all documents and files on the Chamber’s Shared Drive
  • Meet organization and program deadlines and goals set in collaboration with President/CEO
  • Take initiative and active role in discovering opportunities for collaboration and coordination that would benefit the Chamber members.
  • Attend regularly scheduled meetings with the President/CEO to ensure the organization’s success through membership and program strategy
 
Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in or an earned Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in membership management, customer relations, or community engagement.
  • Strong leadership skills and experience managing programs or teams.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to secure sponsorships or funding through successful outreach and initiative.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with membership management software.
